Elementary Summer Program
K – 5th Grade
This program is designed to actively engage students in reading, and mathematics and to help them remember what was learned this year, and get ready for the school year 2022-23. Selected students will receive an invitation to participate in the program.
Location: Current Elementary School Campus
Dates: June 7 – June 30, 2022 (Mondays-Thursdays only)
Time: 7:30 a.m. – 11:45 a.m. (breakfast and lunch provided)
Transportation: available to students who currently receive transportation

High School Summer Program
Update for Summer EOC Testing: posted May 26, 2022
CFBISD is providing Summer EOC Tutorial Sessions for Algebra I, English I and II, Biology and US History on June 10th and 17th from 8:00 am until 12:00 pm.
To participate in this opportunity to prepare for the upcoming June STAAR-EOC exams, students will need to sign up for EOC Tutorials by completing the form below by Wednesday, June 1st, 2022.

Location: R. L. Turner High School, 1600 S. Josey Ln, Carrollton, TX 75006
Hours: 8:00 a.m. - 12:00 p.m.
If your student is unable to attend one or both of these Friday tutorials but plans to attend 2022 June Summer EOC testing at R.L. Turner, please complete the Sign-Up form below by Wednesday, June 1st, 2022.

Enrollment is May 17, 18, 19 - between 6:00 pm and 8:00 pm
Students may enroll in one of the following options:
- Enroll in 1 or 2 classes that you have failed
- Enroll in 1 failed class AND 1 class for advancement
- Enroll in 1 class for advancement
- Advancement requires counselor approval
- Incoming freshmen may take a course denoted with an (*)
Procedures to Enroll:

Contact your current counselor to discuss your options and request an enrollment form.

If approved, they will sign off on your form.

You and your parent/guardian will bring your form to RLT any night, May 17-19.

There will be counselors and admin available, with blank forms, for additional assistance.

STAAR-EOC Testing Information:

All students that fail the May 2022 EOC (End of Course) tests will be automatically registered for summer testing.

There are in-person review classes for STAAR-EOC instruction available free of charge on June 10 and 17, from 8:00am-1:00pm.

The prep sessions will be held at R. L. Turner High School.

All high school summer testing will take place at R. L. Turner High School.

Summer Testing Information:

Testing students must arrive at the testing location before 7:30 AM.

Testing students must bring their own fully charged, district issued Chromebook.

Testing students must bring a photo ID (Driver’s license or School IDs)

Test is located on the 1st floor of RL Turner High School.
-
Students are permitted to bring a bag, backpack or purse; however, students should be prepared to leave these in the front of the classroom during testing sessions.
-
Cellphones, smartwatches, and earbuds must be turned off and placed in the front of the classroom during testing.
-
Students who are done testing may leave the testing room; however, will need to plan to leave campus within 15 minutes of dismissal.
-
Food and snacks are prohibited on campus during summer testing.
Learning the Language
Welcome to Learning the Language!
Learning the Language has provided English language instruction through research-based strategies for over 30 years.
Learning the Language is an English acquisition program for our emergent bilingual students in CFBISD. Learning the Language serves all of our elementary schools but will focus only on PK and K this summer.
Through a written, multidisciplinary curriculum, second language acquisition strategies, and your expertise – students will learn content and language simultaneously.
Learning the Language has expanded each year and most recently includes physical education, music, science labs, and field trips!
The program provides:
- Full day of quality curriculum
- Extracurricular activities including music, physical education, science labs, and field trips
- Transportation to and from the program
- Free meals
Eligibility Criteria:
- Current Bilingual or ESL Pre-K student
- Current Bilingual or ESL Kinder student who did NOT attend Pre-K last year
- Current Bilingual or ESL Kinder student who attended Pre-K last year, but did NOT attend Learning the Language last summer (June 2021)
- Current Pre-K or Kinder student New to the U.S.A this school year (2021-2022)
When: June 7th to June 30st
Where: Good Elementary, 1012 Study Ln., Carrollton, TX 75006
Time: 7:30 a.m. - 3:00 p.m.

Your student’s school will send home information if your student qualifies for the program. You should receive information with details about Registration by March 28th.
