Student Nutrition Department Seeking School Nutrition Heroes

Are you interested in making a difference in students' lives while enjoying benefits such as competitive pay, a family-friendly work schedule and more? Then CFB's Student Nutrition Department wants you.

In CFBISD, our mission of High Expectations for All doesn't stop when students leave the classroom. Student Nutrition employees ensure that each and every child receives the meals they need to nourish their body and mind, helping them achieve success in and out of school.

"The children are the best part of my job," said Jean Robbins, Student Nutrition Field Supervisor. "Their smiles make my day, and I have always felt like I'm helping to educate my community."

Working in Student Nutrition is a fast-paced environment with a busy, but fulfilling schedule.

"My schedule is the best part of my job," said Maribel Marin, Riverchase Cafeteria Manager. "A typical day consists of helping as a cashier for breakfast and lunch, office work and assisting my co-workers in making sure everything goes well. I love being able to work with a diverse staff and seeing almost every student on campus each day."

The daily schedule fits within a typical school day, allowing staff to be there for their own families. In addition to the great benefits and competitive pay, working in Student Nutrition provides a sense of community.

"I really enjoy the benefits of being off work on the holidays when my kids are out of school," said Jennifer Ford, Newman Smith High School Cafeteria Manager. “It is great being off in time to pick them up from school every day. Student Nutrition is more than just a job, it's a family. I could walk into any kitchen in the district and immediately be treated like I'd been working with them for years."

Starting pay with the department is $15.42 an hour and includes a free lunch each workday. Health, vision and dental benefits are available to all employees. Opportunities are available to start working in permanent positions at one of CFBISD’s 34 campuses across Dallas, Carrollton, Farmers-Branch, Coppell and Irving.
