Shruthi Dandamudi, a student at Ranchview High School in the Carrollton-Farmers Branch Independent School District, placed first place at the Aga Khan Foundation Spoken Word Contest. Dandamudi's submission rose to the top after the committee read poems from students all over the United States.
The theme for this year's contest was "2020 and Beyond: Embracing Youth". Dandamudi's work showcased growth and exploration, speaking on how we can adapt to change the world.
According to the Aga Khan website, the Spoken Word Competition encourages young minds to reflect on current global issues by creating poetry that resonates with themselves and their audiences. The Spoken Word performances will be reviewed by a panel of judges and virtually exhibited.
CFBISD is proud of Dandamudi for representing our district in a positive manner. Her incredible submission shows how powerful the voices of the youth can be. Congratulations to Dandamudi and Ranchview High School.
