Newman Smith High School 50th Anniversary

Newman Smith High School is gearing up to begin its 50th anniversary celebrations this week. Since opening in 1975, the school has built a proud legacy of excellence, community, and Trojan pride. Reflecting its strong commitment to supporting student learning and well-being through collaborative family-school partnerships, Smith was recently honored by the National PTA with the prestigious School of Excellence designation, which it will hold for the next two years.

The 50th anniversary celebrations are an opportunity for the Trojan Nation to honor their legacy while looking ahead to the next chapter. To help mark this milestone, the school invites alumni, faculty, students, families, and community members to take part in a variety of special anniversary events.

Anniversary Kickoff — Wednesday, Sept. 24

The celebration will begin at 6 p.m. in the Newman Smith Theatre with an evening of reflection and pride. Attendees will enjoy Fine Arts performances, explore an impressive 72-foot timeline of the school's history, and view class photos from every year since the school's opening.

Homecoming Game — Friday, Sept. 26

The festivities continue at Standridge Stadium during the annual Homecoming Game. At 6 p.m., former Trojans, faculty, and scholars will meet at the North Pass Gate and march across the field during pre-game celebrations. Participants will also receive a complimentary ticket to watch the game.
