H-E-B recognizes CFBISD as finalist for 2026 Excellence in Education Award

Superintendent Dr. Wendy Eldredge announced at tonight’s board meeting that Carrollton-Farmers Branch ISD has been named one of only five large school districts across Texas selected as a finalist in the 2026 H-E-B Excellence in Education Awards. This prestigious program recognizes public school districts for their outstanding service to students and their communities.

This marks a significant achievement, as CFBISD has been selected as a finalist on its first award submission.

As part of the selection process, the district highlighted the rigor of its curriculum, strong academic practices in classrooms, and its intentional focus on developing leadership across the organization. The submission also showcased strengths that go beyond academics, including fine arts, STEM and robotics programs, and career and technical education, as well as recent honors received by the district.

“When we were pulling the application together, it really was phenomenal to see all of the accomplishments that CFBISD has achieved, and how those efforts set the district apart,” said Assistant Superintendent of Leadership and Learning Kimberly Holcomb. “There are many things to be proud of in how we support well-rounded students who are prepared to succeed in the careers and pathways they choose.”

For the next phase of the competition, a panel of judges will visit the finalist districts to engage with administrators, staff, parents and community members. The ultimate award winner will be announced at the H-E-B Excellence in Education Awards ceremony Sunday, May 3.

CFBISD’s selection reflects the district’s ongoing commitment to educational excellence, strong community partnerships and ensuring success for every student.

“This recognition shows that, as a school district, we are one big family, and that collective spirit allows us to do what is best for our students,” Holcomb added. “We are very proud of this honor, and regardless of the outcome, we believe this recognition speaks volumes about our work.”
