Giving House

Families, including the parents and students in the Carrollton-Farmers Branch Independent School District, feel the impact of COVID-19 emotionally and financially. According to economic reports, 14 million people in the United States have filed for unemployment since the pandemic started in March. Our community is not immune. Many children in CFBISD need our help.

Even before COVID-19 struck our economy, the Center for Public Policy reported that one in four Texas children live in households that lack the financial resources and essentials to meet basic human needs. Knowing the hardships of many of our families, CFBISD created the CFB Giving House in 2019.

What is the CFB Giving House
CFBISD launched the Giving House as a new initiative to help educate the whole child. We believe that no CFBISD child should go without food, clothes or supplies. Meeting the basic needs of students is essential to establishing a foundation for academic achievement. CFBISD Giving House is a place where staff can request specific items for students to meet their basic needs.

How CFB Giving House Works
The CFB Giving House is much like a CFBISD clothes closet. The District will keep an inventory of new, specific items, including socks, underwear, hygiene items, fleece or knit jackets and uniforms. Campus staff will identify a student need on their campus, and then a counselor will complete a request form through the CFB Giving House website. The items will be delivered to the school and into the hands of our students within 24 hours.

How Can You Help
CFBISD needs the help of our community partners and individuals to stock the Giving House with specific items to meet our students' basic needs. You can help with financial giving or in-kind donations. Information on giving is on our website at www.cfbgivinghouse.com

New items that are needed include:

  • Socks and Underwear
  • Hygiene Items (deodorant, toothbrushes, toothpaste, wipes)
  • Fleece or Knit Jackets (zip up jackets or hoodies)
  • Uniforms: polo-style shirts: red, navy, white; and pants: navy or khaki

To donate items to the CFB Giving House, contact Pam Pena at penap@cfbisd.edu or 972-968-6187.

Regardless of the economic effects of COVID-19 on you or your family, the pandemic has affected and will likely continue to impact our community's families for years to come. The CFB Giving House in CFBISD is an excellent way for you or your corporation can help students in need.
