The Carrollton-Farmers Branch ISD Elementary Honor Choir wrapped up a successful 2024-25 season with their annual concert in November.
Led by artistic director Kim Ahrens, a CFBISD alumna, and coordinated by Stefanie Herrera, Vivian Field MS choir director, the choir consisted of approximately 80 talented fourth- and fifth-grade students from across the district.
For more than a decade, the Honor Choir has provided a platform for young musicians in CFBISD to showcase their skills. Students audition for the ensemble each year by performing a variety of musical elements before a panel of judges. After the audition process is complete, select students are chosen to join the group.
“This ensemble is especially unique,” said Mark Rohwer, CFBISD director of fine arts. “It gives students a special ‘mountaintop’ experience to perform with like-minded peers and amazing conductors. It also allows them to foster new friendships with peers from other campuses.”
The choir’s seven-week season begins in early October and culminates in a November concert. The experience challenges students to reach new artistic heights while preparing them for future musical auditions.
