Creekview HS:

Creekview swim and dive competed against The Colony HS in a pentathlon format meet. Athletes swam two relays and three individual events. The meet was fast-paced and challenging for young swimmers due to the quick turnaround of events. Creekview prevailed over The Colony in total combined scoring.

Freshman Derek Vargas scored first place overall in the diving competition–a major feat considering he experienced a mental hurdle during inward tuck dive practices. While primarily a diver, Vargas also competed in relays and individual swim events.

Matthew Phan, a junior and first-year Creekview swim team member, swam the 50 and 100 freestyle events. He accomplished a feat that many veteran athletes struggle with by performing underwater dives to the 15-meter mark in a 25-yard pool.

At the Northwest HS invitational meet, freshman Jennifer Lee achieved top times and dropped more than 14 seconds in her events. At the Lewisville HS meet, the team defeated the Farmers, with junior Kaiden Melton demonstrating strength and perseverance. The dive team had a strong showing at the meet, securing first and third-place finishes.

In the most recent meet against Coppell HS, several athletes achieved their personal bests, with sophomore Alyssia Philips snagging four of her top times alone.

Newman Smith HS:

The Trojans opened their swimming and diving season with strong performances at the annual CFB Quad meet. Led by experienced swimmers Zachary Smith, Ali Monzon and Thi Nguyen, the team showcased impressive individual and relay performances. Notable newcomers included Gillian Keith, Miles Panther, Claudia Goyo, Alienna Flores, Zoiee Langenberg and Minda Garvin.

In their meet against The Colony HS, Smith’s boys team dominated. Standout performances came from Zachary Smith, Miles Panther, Ali Monzon, Gillian Keith, Claudia Goyo, Amari Levene and Josue Rodriguez. Minda Garvin excelled in both diving and swimming, contributing valuable points to the girls team.

At the Northwest HS Invitational, Zachary Smith made his seasonal record time in the 200 and 500 freestyle, just shy of both school records. Ali Monzon finished with personal best times dropping eight seconds in the 200 freestyle and two seconds in the 100 butterfly.

Ranchview HS:

The Ranchview High School boys swim team dominated The Colony in a sprint pentathlon meet, while the girls were just shy of a win by a single point. Cody Le, Sebastian Kim, Diego Kim, Daniel Kim, Rose Dowell, Elizabeth Bell and Diego Ramos led the way for the Wolves.

Sophia Mohammad and Cody Le were named Athletes of the Meet for their exceptional performances. The combined boys and girls teams finished eighth out of 24 teams in the 6A and under division.

Diego Ramos Gutierrez broke his own school record in the breaststroke, while also excelling in the 50-yard freestyle. Stephanie Baizabal dropped eight seconds in the 200 freestyle and 15 seconds in the 500 freestyle.

The boys medley relay team, consisting of Cody Le, Sebastian Doan, Diego Ramos and Daniel Kim, finished with a season-best time, just three seconds shy of the school record. The 400-yard freestyle relay team also placed eighth, narrowly missing the school record.

Summer Huddleston returned to the team to help with relays and swam a strong 50-yard freestyle. The girls 200-yard freestyle relay team finished tenth, while the 400-yard freestyle relay team improved by 45 seconds.

During the team’s most recent event, Cody Le, Daniel Kim, Sebastian Doan and Diego Ramos-Gutierrez set a new school record in the 200-yard freestyle relay.

R. L. Turner HS:

R. L. Turner's swim team started the season strong with multiple impressive performances. The team has participated in a series of meets, both home and away.

Senior captain Mariann Torres led the way for the girls, increasing her speed by three seconds in her 100-yard freestyle. For the boys, senior Juan Perez set personal bests in the 100 and 200 freestyle.

The junior class has also made significant contributions. Luis Fajardo qualified for the Texas Interscholastic Swimming Coaches Association state meet in five events. Itzel Garcia emerged as the team’s primary backstroker, refining her technique during each meet. Anish Vishwamitra has been a standout in the butterfly, a key member of the boys medley relay team that is aiming to break records.

The team also welcomed several promising freshmen, including Hector Soto, Liam Moser and Krish Narsian. The newcomers are expected to make a significant impact to the team’s future performances.

The dive team is diligently preparing for the championship season, with five or six divers mastering 11 dives.

As the season progresses, these CFBISD’s high school swim teams are expected to continue their strong performances and compete for championships.
