CFBISD Principal Profile: featuring Danielle Ford
In celebration of Principal Appreciation Month, CFBISD is highlighting the incredible leaders who shape our schools every day. Through this profile series, three principals will share in their own words what inspires them, how they foster strong campus cultures and the ways they connect with their communities.

This week, we’re featuring Danielle Ford, principal of Ted Polk Middle School, who has led the campus for two years and has been part of the CFBISD family for 11 years. Known for addressing each of her 1,108 students and staff members by name, Ms. Ford is recognized as a leader who guides with empathy, intentionality, and an unwavering belief in the potential of every student.

Motivation and impact

What's the most fulfilling part of your job that keeps you motivated and excited to come to work every single day?

"Our amazing panthers, hard-working staff and phenomenal PTA inspire me to do what I do!"

Can you share a specific story or moment that illustrates the impact you and your school community have had on a student or a family?

"One of my strengths is connecting with our students and encouraging them to find their voice. I recall a student who consistently struggled with making positive decisions and frequently found themselves in trouble. Rather than just applying consequences, my administrators, the student’s parents and I acted as a support team. At Polk, we heavily emphasize meeting a student's underlying needs in addition to consequences. Through conferences and problem-solving, we developed a plan to support them. The student eventually thrived, became a campus leader, and found a sense of belonging. We believed in them until they were able to believe in themselves. Now, they are achieving and will continue to positively contribute to their community. I cannot wait to see their success in high school and beyond."

School philosophy and culture

If you could state your personal philosophy of education in one sentence, what would it be?

"I have so many. One of my favorites is a quote from Aristotle, ‘Educating the mind without educating the heart is no education at all.’”

A strong school culture starts at the top. What are the key values or elements you prioritize to make your school a supportive, inclusive, and safe place for both students and staff?

“I think I can speak for most principals when I say safety is my biggest priority. Other values I focus on are equitable access to education, knowing students and staff by their name and need, service, empowering others, setting high expectations and having a growth mindset.

Community and Leadership

What does community partnership mean to you, and how do you intentionally work to build those vital connections with your school’s families and community?

"Community partnership is the heart of who we are at Polk. We believe the success of our scholars depends on the strength of our relationships with families and the community we serve. We intentionally create opportunities for families to engage, share feedback and take part in shaping the direction of our school. By connecting with local organizations, businesses and volunteers, we continue to grow a network of support that expands what's possible for our students both inside and outside the classroom. Together, we are cultivating a culture where every family feels seen, every voice matters and our entire community is united."

Being a principal often means navigating challenging situations. Where do you find the strength and guidance to lead with empathy and integrity when things get tough?

"When things get tough, I find strength in my purpose and in the people I serve. I put myself in the shoes of anyone sitting across from me—students, parents or staff—and ask, 'If this were me, or my son, how would I want this situation handled?' My guidance also comes from reflection, collaboration and leaning on my leadership team and mentors to stay grounded. Challenges are opportunities to win the moment—to respond with empathy, clarity and integrity—so that every student and staff member feels valued, supported and heard."

Why did you choose to serve the students, staff, and families of CFBISD, and what makes this district a unique place to lead?

"I chose to serve the students, staff, and families of CFBISD because I wanted a community where I could make a lasting impact while continuing to grow as an educator and leader. As I begin year 11 in this district, from teaching to serving as an assistant principal and now leading Polk, I have always felt supported, and that support has empowered me to serve others with purpose. CFBISD has consistently provided the resources, mentorship and opportunities to grow, just as I strive to serve the students, staff and families of the Polk community. This district’s commitment to equity, collaboration and meaningful relationships allows leaders like me to shape learning environments where every student can thrive intentionally."

Is there anything else you would like to say?

"I am grateful for the opportunity to serve the students, staff and families of the Polk community. Every day, I am inspired by the dedication, resilience and creativity of our educators and the curiosity and growth of our scholars. This is the place where we come together to support, challenge, and celebrate every student, and I am proud to lead with purpose, empathy, and integrity to ensure every scholar can thrive."
