CFBISD Fine Arts Departments Celebrate a Successful UIL Season

Students participating in CFBISD Fine Arts finished the year strong in UIL competitions. The Music Program of the UIL is designed to support and enrich the teaching of music as an integral component of the public school curriculum in the state of Texas. Each year, middle and high school students in CFBISD participate in UIL music events, including Concert and Sight Reading.

"The mission of the competition is not to create winners and losers, but rather to inspire every individual to have high expectations for personal growth and achievement," says CFBISD Director of Fine Arts, Brett Farr. "Through good competition and inspiring teachers, we seek to raise everyone's level of understanding and achievement, and we lay the groundwork for students to become musicians rather than just being in a music class."

This year in CFBISD, our band, orchestra, and choir directors sent 84 groups to UIL and walked away with 59 Sweepstakes Awards. These groups consisted of 168 different ensembles that were judged. Of those 168 ensembles, CFBISD received 140 First Division Ratings.

Congratulations to all of our CFBISD students and teachers on this successful UIL season!
