CFBISD celebrates new Creekview HS football field with ribbon-cutting ceremony

On Tuesday, Feb. 27, Carrollton-Farmers Branch ISD celebrated the opening of the Creekview High School’s new football stadium with a special ribbon-cutting ceremony.

In attendance were the CFBISD Board of Trustees, Superintendent Dr. Wendy Eldredge, students, teachers, staff, city officials, chamber of commerce members, district administrators and community members. Remarks were made by Creekview HS Principal, Mr. Leon Sulak and coach Mr. Tony Castillo. Two Creekview student athletes also shared their excitement for having a home field to play on.

Since 2019, the district has been actively upgrading the athletic complexes of high schools to turf. Currently, all CFBISD softball and baseball fields have undergone the transformation. The Board  of Trustees endorsed the decision by district leadership to enhance the facilities by adding bleachers and lighting to all high school fields. This improvement allows sub-varsity football and soccer students to play their games at their home campuses rather than at the middle schools.

“We are excited to announce the successful completion of Newman Smith, R. L. Turner, and now Creekview,” said Bobby Shaw, CFBISD director of facility services. “Throughout this process, we have collaborated closely with local communities and municipalities to secure the final approvals for these upgraded playing fields. We are thankful for the dedicated efforts of Hellas Construction and the unwavering support from the high school staff and students.”

The Ranchview HS upgrade is currently underway and expected to be completed by mid-Spring 2024.
