CFBISD All Stars shine at annual bowling competition

More than 180 Carrollton-Farmers Branch ISD All Stars showcased their skills and sportsmanship at the annual Special Olympics Greater Dallas Area Bowling Competition at the Addison Bowlero bowling alley, celebrating inclusion, perseverance, and community.

The event opened with the Special Olympics athletes' oath and the National Anthem, followed by competitors bowling two games, challenging fellow athletes from various neighboring school districts.

“Our ultimate goal is to empower athletes and their community of supporters,” said Leslie Halencek, CFBISD Special Olympics coordinator. “Through their hard work and determination, our exceptional athletes earned numerous medals and ribbons, while building confidence and lifelong friendships along the way.”

CFBISD is dedicated to promoting student empowerment and is committed to the Special Olympics mission of fostering acceptance, understanding, and inclusion for all individuals, regardless of intellectual ability. Since its launch in 1999, the CFBISD All-Star program has grown from just 16 athletes to benefiting about 230 students each year. The program includes bowling in the fall and track and field in the spring, with the next meet scheduled for March 27, 2026, at Standridge Stadium.
