District Technology Device Fee
Program overview
This year, a Technology Device Fee will be required for 3-12 grade students receiving a district device. While many neighboring districts have required a usage fee for years, the district is now taking this measure to help maintain ongoing expenses for thousands of student devices while facing declining enrollment and a multimillion-dollar budget deficit.
The $40 fee, or $25 for students who qualify for free or reduced-price meals, helps purchase new devices when older models no longer support updates or applications, and protects families from the cost of unexpected repairs–which could amount to $400 or more.
How to pay the device fee
Understanding that this is a new expense, families can pay in one payment by Oct. 15 or set up a three-installment payment plan through RevTrack.
To help make the fee more affordable, the district also offers scholarships for qualifying families to cover the cost of the fee. Families may apply by completing the online scholarship application.
Students who have not paid the fee by Monday, Nov. 30, will have their device switched to restricted mode. They will continue to have access to essential learning applications and required assessment tools, while access to other applications and services will be temporarily limited until the fee is paid.
