The Facts About Dual Credit

All CFB HS students are eligible to take Dual Credit classes if they meet college readiness measures

There is no cost for 1st time taken (textbooks included)

Grades
-
Dual credit courses are GPA neutral on HS transcript at comprehensive campuses, but begins student’s college GPA
-
Student will also receive grades on college transcript

Numeric grades are reported from Dallas College and added to transcript for online/summer school

HS credit awarded for 70+

District student information to communicate how grades are added to transcript

Courses listed in TEAMS are reported as P/F
-
Semester grades will be sent to campus dual credit contact for distribution to counselors for info purposes only

Dual Credit Registration Guidelines:

Students must meet prerequisite for requested course
-
Fall Enrollment – by last week of July
-
Spring Enrollment – by end of fall semester
-
Summer Enrollment – May 1st

Students with pending scores can be registered
-

Only one course for new dual credit students – can do both summer 1/Summer 2
-
Recommended for students with C or better average – counselor approval will suffice
Satisfactory Academic Progress

Students taking Dual Credit classes must maintain a 2.0 GPA or a C average
-
Probation < 2.0 GPA
-
Students on probation must complete probation packet and review the video with their counselor before registering for additional classes. Students that graduate on probation may not be eligible for financial aid.
Cautions for Students

If you drop a class within the drop-dates, no problem. In Dual Credit you can drop without penalties.

If you miss the calendar date for Drops, you will have the grade you earn or an F.
-
If you fail a class, you have an F on your transcript until you retake the course. The F stays, but the new grade is averaged into your GPA.
-
No one but you can talk to your professor, the Financial Aid office, or your Success Coach.

For courses through DCCCD, complete the Dual Credit Student Application for Admission to obtain a student ID Number, then set up an eConnect account to take the PAA. |

After completing the PAA, take the TSIA 2.0 assessment. |

Complete the minor emergency and Meningitis vaccination forms. |

Advise your counselor that you submitted your Dallas College application, transcript, and other required documents. |
