Information Technology Academy (ITA)

• Computer Maintenance
  Computer Maintenance instills students with foundational to advanced Computer skills. These skills have emphasis on network connectvitiy, operating systems, PC building/repair, and troubleshooting. Students will have the opportunity to take the ComptTIA A+ certification exam at the completion of the course.
• Cyber Security
  Cyber Security is a foundational course that emphasis data security and privacy. Topics in this course range from access control, operating systems security, malicious threats, content protection, trusted computing, and generalized software security. This course is the first step in preparation for the CompTIA CYSA+ certification.
• Networking
  Networking builds upon skills learned in Computer Maintenance as it provides an introduction to the architecture and protocols of Computer Networking. Topics include addressing, client-server models, forwarding, OSI model, routing, and web protocols. Students will be able to understand the importance of infrastructure and network design.
• Web Design
  Web Design enables students to implement various tools and programming language to create cohesive and intricate web pages, sites, and be capable of maintaining them. Students will become familiar with color design, navigation design, CCS, HTML, scripting, and modern design language.
• Web Game Development
  Web Game Development builds upon the skills learned within the Web Design course and focuses on the integration of games into web and mobile applications. Students will focus on the game design fundamentals such as art, level design, story telling, and programming languages.
• Practicum of IT
  Not available this year, but will be in the future. The Computer Practicum course allows for students to work on self guided projects, shadow IT professionals, and even allow students to focus on internships. This allows for students to hone the skills and knowledge they have gained in previous courses and place them to the test.

Our teachers are certified in Information Technology and Computer Sciences, many enter from various IT fields.

Technology Student Association (TSA) is a nationwide STEM competition organization hosting over 60 virtual competitions.

Students will learn essential computer science skills to include:

PTECH students have the opportunity to earn dual credit hours up to an associate degree through Dallas College at no charge to them.  Student also have the opportunity to earn a Level 1 certification through Dallas College that can be used to help them when they begin working to earn higher wages.  In addition, as with all CTE Career Clusters, students in the PTECH are able to earn Industry Based Certifications that can also be used to help students earn higher wages when they begin working.
