School Wellness

The Carrollton-Farmers Branch ISD School Health Advisory Council (SHAC), school staff and administrators review and assess the District Wellness Plan every 3 years to ensure objectives are met and the current language reflects the health and wellness goals of the district. The district Wellness Plan underwent a triennial assessment during the 2023-2024 school year. This assessment was completed prior to June 30, 2024, as required by state and federal regulations. The assessment included a review from district stakeholders such as the local School Health Advisory Council (SHAC), district employees and administrators. Any recommended changes to the plan must be approved first by the SHAC and then brought forth to the Carrollton-Farmers Branch Board of Trustees for final approval. The Wellness Plan is a district owned document, and the role of Carrollton-Farmers Branch Student Nutrition is to ensure the triennial assessment occurs based upon current State and Federal Child Nutrition Program regulations. The department also ensures the content that applies specifically to Student Nutrition is updated in this document as needed during these assessments.

Feedback on how the Wellness Plan is implemented at the campus level was provided by district and campus administration via a google survey during the last assessment period. District staff completed the survey to assess the current district plan. This data was then utilized to complete the WellSAT 3.0 assessment from the Rudd Center at the University of Connecticut. All pertinent information was provided to the Carrollton-Farmers Branch ISD SHAC for review in February 2025 at the districts scheduled SHAC meeting. The findings of the 2023-2024 assessment indicate that no necessary changes are needed to the district Wellness Plan currently.
