Family Support Services: Our goal as Family Support Specialists is to provide families of children in CFBISD that receive special education services with resources, trainings, and connections that will support both student and family success.

CFBISD Family Support offers meetings and trainings throughout the school year for parents and caregivers of students receiving special education services.
September 2026
September 10: ARD Process
Learn about the Admission, Review, and Dismissal, or ARD, process and how families can participate in developing their child’s Individualized Education Program.
September 24: Autism 101
An introductory session for families who would like to learn more about autism and available supports.
October 2026
October 8: Coffee and Connect
An informal opportunity for families to meet, connect, ask questions, and learn about available resources.
October 26: Psychoeducation, Part 1
The first session in a two-part series focused on understanding and supporting a child’s emotional, behavioral, and educational needs.
November 2026
November 12: Transition
Learn about transition planning and how families can help students prepare for life after high school.
December 2026
December 10: Behavior Strategies
Learn practical strategies families can use to support positive behavior at home and in the community.
January 2027
January 14: Coffee and Connect
An informal opportunity for families to meet, connect, ask questions, and learn about available resources.
January 25: Psychoeducation, Part 2
The second session in the psychoeducation series focused on supporting a child’s emotional, behavioral, and educational needs.

February 11: ARD Process Live Question-and-Answer Session
Families may ask questions and receive additional information about the ARD process.
February 25: Social Skills
Learn ways to support the development of communication, interaction, and social skills.
March 2027
March 25: Safety in the Community
Learn strategies and resources to help children and young adults remain safe at home and in the community.
April 2027
April 8: Autism 101 Live Question-and-Answer Session
Families may ask questions and receive additional information related to autism and available supports.
April 29: Guardianship
Learn about guardianship and other options families may consider as a student approaches adulthood.

May 13: Summer Fun and Learning
Explore activities and ideas for supporting engagement and learning during the summer.
