Student Teaching/Clinical Practitioner Placements

• University, College or Educational Preparation Program officials contact CFBISD H.R. at skruchs@cfbisd.edu to notify of the placement request.
• If applicable, CFBISD H.R. verifies if a current MOU agreement is on file or if a MOU needs to be drafted and signed.
• University/EEP Program officials complete the online template Student Teacher Placement Request for each placement request, to ensure we have the information needed to secure the appropriate placements.  When opening this form it will force you to make a copy.  Please share the completed google document and any documentation needed to confirm the placement with Sherie Skruch at skruchs@cfbisd.edu.
• Student teacher completes the background check through the CFB Volunteer Link.  Scroll to the bottom of the page and click on the District Volunteer Application link in either English or Spanish.  The background check could take 2-3 days for processing.
• Student teacher completes onboarding forms that are sent from HR to enter them in the CFB system.  By being in the CFB system, student teachers will have a district email address, access to educational tools, and be a part of our district safety systems.

• CFB H.R. makes placements for classroom teachers and notifies the program by email and if applicable, returns the completed documentation submitted once the placement is confirmed.
• Student Teaching approval notifications and matches with mentor teachers will be emailed to the observer, the mentor teacher, the campus principal, and the university/program supervisor.
• Student Teachers are responsible for contacting the mentor teacher to schedule their start time.
• Clinical Practitioner or Special Area placement requests, such as Counselors, Speech and Language Pathologists, Diagnosticians, Nurses, etc…, are forwarded to the appropriate department director for placement.
• Department directors will make the placements for clinical practitioner or special area placements and notify the program contact of the placement details.
• Prior to the start of the placement assignment, Student Teachers/Clinical Practitioners visit the Administration Building to obtain a Student Teacher ID badge for identification purposes.

• Requests for placements must be a course or program requirement of a College, University, or Educator Preparation Program for teacher certification or other professional licensure.
• Placements will not be made without a formal request from the school/program official.
• Placements are made based on capacity and availability to provide appropriate mentors who meet the requirements to host mentees. CFBISD reserves the right to deny placements requests should those conditions not be met.
• Student Teachers/Clinical Practitioners are for educational purposes only and are non-paid.
• Professional dress and decorum are expected from all participants.
• In accordance with FERPA and District guidelines, student confidentiality must be maintained.
• Adherence to all district guidelines, procedures and protocols is expected.

1. University Supervisor completes Placement Request Form and submits to CFB HR.
2. Student completes the 5 onboarding forms sent to the candidate from HR via email.
3. Complete District Volunteer Application for your Background Check through the Raptor System.
4. Watch Volunteer Training Video.
5. Watch for an approval email from HR with your mentor teacher.
6. Contact your mentor teacher for start times.
7. Attend the district student teacher orientation (usually one of the first days of the semester.)
8. Have your district student teaching badge made by CFB Security.
