Classroom Observation Placements

• Access the application using the following link: Student Observation Form
• Observation Hours.  Be sure to enter the number of hours needed. 
• Complete the background check by registering for the District Volunteer Application at  CFB Volunteer Link.  Scroll to the bottom of the page and click on the District Volunteer Application link in either English or Spanish.  The background check could take 2-3 days for processing.
• Watch the Volunteer Training Video (training video).
• If approved, your name will appear on the district approved volunteer list.
• No observations may occur until the application has been approved and the background check has been cleared.  Background checks could take two to three days to process.
• Observation approval notifications and matches with a mentor teacher will be emailed to the observer, the mentor teacher, the campus principal, and the university/program supervisor from the HR Department.
• Observers are responsible for contacting the mentor teacher to schedule observation times.
• Applications must be renewed each semester and must include a current syllabus or program acceptance letter.

• Requests for observations must be associated with a college course or Alternative Certification Program Requirement.
• A current class syllabus or Alt. Program acceptance letter is required with the application.
• Observation hours must not exceed 60 hours.
• Observations are not permitted in the first three weeks of instruction each semester.
• Direct student contact is prohibited.
• Cell phone use and video recording are prohibited during observations.
• Professional dress and decorum are required.
• Observers must check in with the front office each time they observe and wear the district issued visitor identification badge.
• The observer’s name will appear on the district approved volunteer list.
• Classroom observation requests are subject to availability and campus principals reserve the right to deny requests.

All observers must respect all confidentiality rules and regulations and follow campus procedures.

• Fall: The first week in September – The first week in December
• Spring: The first week in February – The first week in May
• Summer: The first week in June – The last week in June

1. Complete Student Observer Form.
2. Upload current course syllabus or acceptance letter from ACP program.
3. Complete District Volunteer Application for your Background Check through the Raptor System.
4. Watch Volunteer Training Video.
5. Watch for an approval email from HR with your mentor teacher.
6. Contact your mentor teacher for observation times.
