COVID Recommendations
August 31, 2023
All students and staff (vaccinated or not vaccinated) should stay home if they have symptoms of COVID: Cough, Fever (100 or above on a thermometer), Chills, Headache, Nasal Congestion, Sore Throat, and Body/muscle ache. Test for COVID using a home test or test at a pharmacy, clinic, etc. Those who test positive MUST remain in home isolation for 5 days. The test date is counted as Day #0, followed by 5 days of home isolation.
The person may return to work or school on Day number 6. Returning to work or school depends on if three conditions are met:
- FEVER FREE FOR 24 hours without fever reducing medicine.
- Symptoms are going away.
- Masks are not required to be worn upon returning to work or school. If a person chooses to wear a mask, that is allowed.
A negative test is not required to return to work or school.
If a staff member or a student lives in a household with a positive case, they may continue to attend work or school. The person should monitor themselves for symptoms and have a COVID test when symptoms begin or five days after being exposed to COVID.
For school attendance, if choosing not to get COVID tested, a physician note is required for attendance purposes after 3 days of absences.
Nursing Staff – Enter COVID cases in the Frontline under Communicable Disease. Enter all the information as last year.
You do not need to individually report COVID with the Dallas County form.
COVID data from Frontline will be reported at the district level.
