Project Details:

The Construction Manager will complete the entire project at Landry Elementary in two phases:

Phase One:

• Renovations and conversion of the existing gymnasium to the fine arts center, including dance and music studios – COMPLETE
• Construction of a new gymnasium, office, storage and restrooms – COMPLETE
• New instructional wing including six classrooms- COMPLETE
• Safety and security renovations
• Total new square footage will be approximately 17,000 sq. ft. – COMPLETE

Phase Two:

• Extensive renovations to the existing campus to include new classroom configurations, collaboration space and restrooms, and other items identified through the comprehensive facility assessment – COMPLETE
• Renovated square footage will be approximately 70,000 sq. ft. – COMPLETE

Current Status:

As of October 2, 2019 Phase One is nearing completion. Phase Two construction will continue through the 2020-2021 school year.

Estimated Date of Completion:

The estimated completion date for Phase Two has been extended from March 2020 to August 2020 due to COVID-19.

This project is paid for with Irving TIF funds.

Project Details

• Banquet hall that can also function as a student testing location
  • Can seat a maximum of 1800 (concentrated assembly, chairs only) or 861 (unconcentrated assembly, tables and chairs) – and is large enough to meet the requirement to test up to 500 students
• Miscellaneous break-out conference and meeting spaces
• Culinary arts kitchen facility and café
• Technology warehousing facility
• Technology offices and workspaces
• New Network Operating Center for the entire district
• The size of the complex, once completed, will be approximately 50,000 sq. ft.

Current Status

As of October 2019, project is complete and has been turned over for use and maintenance to the City of Farmers Branch.

This project was paid for with Farmers Branch TIF funds. The building has been razed. A new playground sits on the old playground site of Montgomery for use by Blair Students.

What’s being worked on at McLaughlin Strickland Elementary?

McLaughlin Strickland Elementary is completed

Renovations to McLaughlin Strickland Elementary will be paid for with Farmers Branch TIF funds. 

The TIF funds will provide for the following renovations:

Project Details

• New instructional two story wing that includes:
  • eight classrooms
  • two collaboration / flexible learning spaces
• The new instructional wing will be approximately 21,000 sq. ft. when complete
• Minor interior renovations to expand library and to add office space.
• Other miscellaneous items identified through the comprehensive facility assessment, including identified safety and security renovations.

Current Status: McLaughlin Strickland Campus Addition

This addition was paid for by 2003 Bond funds (bonds were subsequently retired with Farmers Branch TIF funds). This project has been completed.  A ribbon-cutting ceremony was held on February 20, 2020.

 

This project is paid for with 2003 Bond Funds.

Renovations at Smith High School will focus primarily on enhancing the exterior front entrance.

Current Status:

Construction contract was awarded to W. B. Kibler Construction at April 2019 board meeting. Construction began in June 2019.

As of October 2019, the new canopy at the main entrance and monument sign are complete.  The new screen walls and canopies at the secondary entrances are complete.
