The Academy was founded in the fall of 1998 and has a current enrollment of over 200 students, freshmen through seniors, who have made a commitment to a challenging curriculum in the areas of allied health, professional, and biotechnology professions. Our goal as educators is to provide them with valuable experiences, appropriate curriculum, and real-world applications that will help them become successful members of society.
Your student will receive an outstanding education at any of our four high schools in Carrollton-Farmers Branch ISD. Your student may be eligible and interested in applying to one of our specific academies or high school programs in our district. Students apply to these programs during their 8th-grade year and are selected according to the criteria of grades, attendance records, state assessments, essays and teacher recommendations. Students in all programs have the opportunity to participate in field trips and to be involved in outreaches and internships in the community; and those who complete the EMT practicum and pass the certification exam will receive college credit at Brookhaven Community College.
We look forward to visiting CFB middle schools during our fall visit.

Overview of the Academy
The Academy began in the fall of 1998 and has a current enrollment of over 200 students, freshmen through seniors, who have made a commitment to a challenging curriculum that introduces the health care professions. Our goal as educators is to provide students with valuable experiences, appropriate curriculum, and real-world applications that will help them become successful members of society.
Students are exposed to real-world settings through clinical experiences, speakers and field trips. In their junior and senior years, students may complete a one-year clinical practicum in the medical setting that complements their field of interest.
The mission of the Academy is to instruct students in all aspects of health-related careers, while maintaining a comprehensive high school education.
The Academy is designed to prepare students for their place in an ever-changing world they will inherit – a world of health and human service.
