Drug Prevention and Intervention

Purpose & Mission:

The CFBISD Counseling Department is committed to creating a climate of trust and support for students and families impacted by alcohol and substance use concerns. In addition to direct support services for students, we support district‑wide prevention and intervention efforts by:

●       Providing ongoing, developmentally appropriate prevention initiatives that promote drug‑free living for all students

●       Collaborating with community agencies and key stakeholders to connect students and families with appropriate resources

●       Partnering in parent workshops to increase awareness, education, and support

●       Providing training and professional learning opportunities for staff


House Bill (HB) 114- Requires a student to be placed in the DAEP if the student possesses, uses, or is under the influence of, or sells, gives, or delivers marijuana or THC within 300 feet of school property or at any school-related event. Placement in DAEP is also required if a student possesses, uses, sells, gives or delivers to another person an e-cigarette within 300 feet of school property or any school- related event.
