CFBISD has a strong history of serving gifted students through two different programs.
ACE is a program for gifted students who are served at their home elementary and middle school campuses in a cluster-grouped model. They learn with their other gifted peers and are provided with differentiated curriculum through the English Language Arts and Social Studies and/or Math content area based on their ACE placement.
LEAP is a sequential program that seeks to integrate the intellectual and affective (emotional/social) aspects of the highly gifted child who demonstrates a need for a more accelerated curriculum. LEAP qualified students are served at a single elementary campus and a single middle school campus. They learn with their other highly gifted peers in the four core subject areas and experience all other learning experiences within the general education population.
All gifted students are further served through an array of Honors and AP (Advanced Placement) courses in the middle and high school years. Gifted high school students (LEAP and ACE) are served through advanced classes determined by each students’ education needs. Students taking AP courses will take an examination near the end of the course for the opportunity to earn possible college credit.
