Grading & Student Code of Conduct

• Courses offered by institutions of higher education for dual credit are restricted to those contained in the core curriculum of a public institution of higher education, career, and technology education courses, or foreign language courses. 

• Early College High School, any other early college program that assists students in earning an associate degree while in high school, is exempt from this restriction.

• Texas Administrative Code §4.85 specifies that high school students may not be enrolled in more than two courses for dual credit per semester. Exceptions to this requirement include

  • students enrolled in an approved Early College High School AND

  • Individual students with outstanding academic performance and capability (as evidenced by grade point average, ACT or SAT scores, or other assessment indicators) if approved by the high school's principal and the college's chief academic officer.

  •  high school students may not be enrolled in more than two courses for dual credit per semester. Exceptions to this requirement include

    •  students enrolled in an approved Early College High School AND

    • Individual students with outstanding academic performance and capability (as evidenced by grade point average, ACT or SAT scores, or other assessment indicators) if approved by the high school's principal and the college's chief academic officer.

Current Comprehensive Campus Grading Policies:

• Students in person with a CFB facilitated course or with a CFB credentialed teacher in Dual Credit courses are awarded a Pass/ Fail grade. 

• Students in Online/ Night school/ Summer courses received the numeric scores. 

• Dual Credit courses do not affect class rank. 

• If a student earns a D in a Dual Credit course, a failing grade is recorded on their high school transcript. A student may earn college credit, but they will have to retake the high school course.

Misconduct, behavioral problems, and disciplinary measures resulting from violations of the College Student Code of Conduct should be reported in writing to the ECHS/P-TECH administrator.  Disciplinary action shall be taken, as necessary, by the ISD and the ECHS/P-TECH Principal in coordination with the College Student Discipline officer. In addition, the College may elect to dismiss or withdraw students from the College who disrupt the learning environment or have repeated and/or excessive disciplinary infractions in dual credit courses and/or at the college campus. ECHS/P-TECH students, faculty and staff shall adhere to all applicable policies of the ISD and College.

University Interscholastic League (UIL) eligibility requirements

Dual Credit courses affect UIL athletic eligibility. To remain eligible, students must pass their college courses when grades are reported during the UIL reporting period. Students may not be able to regain eligibility after a failing mid-term grade. Dual credit students are required to take the Dual Credit course assessments or fail the course.
