Principal For A Day

Principal for a Day is a community engagement program that invites local business and community leaders to step into the role of a school principal for one day. The experience gives participants a firsthand look at the daily responsibilities of campus leadership, the challenges and successes of schools, and the impact education has on students and the broader community.

Business, civic and community leaders are encouraged to participate. 

Business and community leaders will shadow the principal during their regular daily routine on a campus. This may include an agenda of meeting students, special events, classroom evaluations, hallway/cafeteria monitoring and more. The business leader and principal will spend the morning sharing ideas and learning together. All business leaders and principals will come together for lunch to discuss their experiences and potential plans for a future partnership.

Volunteers may select up to three campuses on the participation form. Placements will be made based on availability. If all three preferred campuses have already been selected, district personnel will assign a placement.

Yes. This is a half day event from 8:00 to 11:00am and lunch will be served at the Nancy Watten Center from 11:30 to 1:00pm. You can review the sample itinerary here.
