Self-Care is Important for Everyone!

Take some time for yourself over the Winter Break. Here are some self-care tips from our CFB Employee Assistance Specialist, Tina Smith.

Self-Care/Stress Management Tips

  1. Mindfulness Breaks
Mindfulness is simply being in the present moment and practicing mindfulness can help lower stress. Taking a few minutes out of our day to step outside, get some sun, take some deep breaths can be refreshing and calming. Apps such as Headspace and Calm both offer mindfulness practices such as calming music and sounds, guided meditations, calming bedtime stories for adults, and much more!
  2. Worry Time
When we are anxious or worried, it can often be challenging to turn off those thoughts and get some rest. Try scheduled Worry Time. Set a timer for about 15 minutes every day where you can write down all of your worries. Look at your list to see what is in your control and what is out of your control. Once the time is up, put away your worries and allow yourself to revisit them during your next Worry Time.
  3. Daily Gratitude
In difficult times, it is especially important to acknowledge the things you are grateful for. Practice keeping a daily gratitude journal that you can write in to bring thanks and positivity to your day.
