R. L. Turner student receives highest degree from Texas FFA

Aiden Nunez, an FFA (Future Farmers of America) student at R. L. Turner High School, recently achieved the prestigious Lone Star FFA Degree at the 97th annual Texas FFA State Convention. This honor represents the highest degree bestowed by the Texas FFA for high school students.

“Seeing Aiden reach this milestone has been an incredibly proud moment for our program,” said Alexandria Entralgo, Turner CTE teacher. “This degree is more than just an award—it's a symbol of the impact he’s already made and the bright future ahead of him in agriculture.”

Nunez is one of only 2,600 students across the state to receive this designation. The Lone Star FFA Degree recognizes students who have earned the Chapter Degree, been active FFA members for at least two years, completed a minimum of four semesters of agricultural science (at or above the ninth-grade level) and demonstrated exceptional leadership within their FFA chapter and beyond.

“This award reflects years of hard work, leadership and growth—not only in the classroom, but through Aiden’s Supervised Agricultural Experience, which focused on showing and working with his breeding doe, Peppa,” Entralgo added. “It is a true example of responsibility, dedication and hands-on learning. As his advisor, I've seen firsthand the dedication and determination it takes to get here.”

Nunez will enter his senior year at Turner in the Animal Science program. He has been an active member of the FFA program since his freshman year and is currently raising a goat and a sheep.

About the Texas FFA Convention

The 97th annual Texas FFA Convention, held June 30-July 4, recorded approximately 16,000 members and guests. Members of the state’s largest agricultural youth leadership organization spent the week attending leadership workshops, participating in events and activities, being recognized for their achievements and serving as the legislative body for the Texas FFA Association.

The Texas FFA is the nation’s largest state FFA association, with more than 182,000 members. FFA gives students the opportunity to apply practical classroom knowledge to real-world experiences through local, state and national competitions.
