Perry robotics team to compete at VEX World Championships

The DeWitt Perry Middle School Robotics Club has qualified for the 2025 VEX Robotics World Championships. The team secured a spot at the global competition after a strong showing at the regional tournament, where they earned the highest autonomous score and the design award.

"This is an amazing accomplishment for our students, especially since it’s their first time competing in VEX," said Perry principal, Vicky Cisneros. “This team has dedicated so much time after school, before school and on most weekends. We are so proud of them.”

In May, the club will join hundreds of teams from around the world to compete at the Kay Bailey Hutchison Convention Center in Dallas. The following students will represent Carrollton-Farmers Branch ISD at the competition:

  • Advait Narani
  • Alexander Bui
  • Arjun Urankar
  • Ashmit Patankar
  • Avyukt Gupta
  • Ishaan Acharya
  • Krishaanu Manuj
  • Lukian Denysov
  • Ryan Zachariah Isaac
  • Tanish Patil

“These students have worked incredibly hard since the beginning of October," said Perry teacher and robotics coach, David Culp. "They encountered a lot of adversity along the way but showed a tremendous amount of perseverance and never gave up.“

For more than 25 years, the DeWitt Perry Robotics Club has participated in the Botball Program, an autonomous robotics competition for students. The club has won multiple Texas and Oklahoma State Botball Championships and several Botball Middle School World Championships. This year marks the club’s first time competing in a VEX competition.
