Rising seniors from Ranchview, Newman Smith and Early College high schools gathered at Ranchview High School on Wednesday, July 23, to receive brand-new laptops and school supplies through a partnership among State Rep. Cassandra Garcia Hernandez, AT&T and Compudopt.

Campus principals, district leadership and community members filled the gym to help distribute the devices and celebrate the students. Participating seniors were selected based on financial need from schools within Garcia Hernandez’s legislative district.

This initiative aims to give students the tools they need to navigate college and scholarship applications, postsecondary coursework, job searches and career opportunities. Without reliable access to a personal device, students face significant barriers during their transition beyond high school. To further bridge the gap, AT&T provided a free Microsoft Office suite for all devices, while Compudopt is offering two years of free tech support.

Garcia Hernandez highlighted the immediate impact the laptops will have on students' academic and career readiness as they begin their final year of high school.

"Events like this would not be possible without our incredible community partners," Garcia Hernandez said. "They help us fill in the gaps, and we can’t thank them enough for investing in our students and communities."

Superintendent Dr. Wendy Eldredge echoed that sentiment, emphasizing how students thrive when local organizations unite to support them.

"We are deeply grateful to Rep. Garcia Hernandez, AT&T and Compudopt for working together to make this happen for our students," Eldredge said. "Congratulations to those who received a brand-new laptop, and we hope you have a great school year."
