Students from across Carrollton-Farmers Branch ISD demonstrated their skills at the district's annual VEX Robotics Competition on Dec. 11 and 13.
Third through 12th-graders gathered at the Nancy Watten Technology and Event Center to compete in two divisions: VEX IQ Challenge (elementary and middle school) and VEX V5 Robotics Competition (high school).
Throughout the year, students designed, built and programmed robots to tackle the unique challenges of the current VEX game. Coaches guided them as they honed problem-solving skills and collaborated with other teams to maximize their success. Robots underwent timed tournament challenges and had rigorous inspections and modifications between rounds to enhance their performance.
Approximately 300 students from across DFW participated in the competition, striving to qualify for regional and state levels. Participating CFBISD schools included:
27 total trophies were awarded, with Ranchview HS clinching an invitation to the UIL State competition based on their high scoring performance.
