Carrollton-Farmers Branch ISD is among 109 districts statewide to receive the 2025-26 District of Distinction Award from the Texas Art Education Association (TAEA). This honor recognizes districts that provide a comprehensive education, integrate visual arts curriculum to foster creativity and social-emotional learning, and connect students to their communities and beyond.

"This honor is a testament to the incredible talent of our students and the dedication of the teachers who inspire them daily," said Mark Rohwer, CFBISD director of fine arts. "The level of creativity coming out of our classrooms every single day is nothing short of inspiring."

Now in its eighth year, the District of Distinction program is overseen by the Visual Art Administrators of Texas, a division of TAEA. It recognizes school districts that lead the way in visual arts education. The award identifies districts actively participating in programs such as VASE, Junior VASE and TEAM, among others. The program also considers field experiences, community service and community exhibitions.

More than 1,200 districts were eligible for the award, with each submitting documentation demonstrating adherence to a 14-point rubric throughout the 2025-26 school year. Only 109 districts met the high standards, placing CFBISD in the top 8% of art education districts in Texas.

CFBISD and the other distinguished districts will be honored at the TAEA Conference this fall.
