CFBISD kicks off enrollment with successful Opening Day celebration

April 1 marked a record-setting start to the 2026-27 enrollment season in CFBISD. During the district's Opening Day event, more than 2,000 families enrolled, including 450 who are new to the district, pushing online registration numbers 15% higher than last year’s kickoff.

To share the excitement with the community, district staff visited local businesses and invited them to partner with CFBISD. Several business owners committed to being “all in” for enrollment by displaying promotional materials in their shops and sharing messages on social media.

Families also had the opportunity to complete registration in person at the Educational Services Division Complex (1820 Pearl St.), where staff welcomed them with free treats, giveaways, and, most importantly, a sense of belonging.

“This time of year is so exciting,” said Leon Sulak, executive director of Student Services. “By enrolling early, our families get a jump start on all the great things our district has to offer.”

This year, the district worked to streamline the enrollment process for incoming families by providing multiple avenues of support. From in-person bilingual assistance and extended office hours to the introduction of a new online chatbot on the district's main website. In this way, CFBISD families can now receive immediate answers to their questions at any time.

“As an out-of-district family transferring in for the second time, the district’s new enrollment process couldn’t have made the experience any easier,” said CFBISD parent Nick Cuellar.

All CFB campuses also supported enrollment efforts by creating a “why enroll” page on their website, showcasing student programs, school accolades and ways for parents to get involved. Additionally, each campus published a virtual tour video, providing families with a sneak peek into life on campus—all from the comfort of home.

“Our families are at the heart of everything we do,” Sulak said. “We are thrilled to provide these resources to help them enroll in one of our great schools.”
