Carrollton-Farmers Branch ISD earned an “A” or Superior Achievement rating in the Texas Education Agency’s 2024–25 Financial Integrity Rating System of Texas (FIRST), placing the district among the 81 percent of Texas school districts and public charter schools that received the state’s highest financial accountability distinction. The rating reflects CFBISD’s strong financial stewardship and commitment to managing taxpayer dollars responsibly.
The Texas Legislature created FIRST in 2001 to ensure public schools demonstrate high-quality financial practices. Ratings are based on 21 indicators drawn from annual financial reports for the 2024 fiscal year, including the accuracy of financial reporting, administrative spending, and the strength of internal controls. An “A” rating confirms that CFBISD meets the state’s highest standards for fiscal integrity.
“Maintaining strong financial practices is essential to supporting our students, staff, and community,” said Carla Settle, CFBISD chief financial officer. “This rating reflects the hard work of our finance team and our commitment to using resources wisely while keeping students at the center of every decision.”
CFBISD remains committed to transparency, responsible budgeting, and long-range planning to support high-quality educational opportunities for all students. The district will share additional details about its FIRST rating and financial report during a public meeting later this school year.
