CFBISD Announces District Teachers of the Year at Annual Teachers and Employees of the Year Banquet

Carrollton-Farmers Branch ISD announced its district Teachers of the Year at the annual Teachers and Employees of the Year Banquet on May 17, 2022, at the Multipurpose Center. Both teachers will move forward and compete for the Region 10 Teacher of the Year program.

The Elementary Teacher of the Year is Nicole Linscomb, an art teacher at Rainwater Elementary School. Please watch the following video to learn more about why Linscomb was selected.

The Secondary Teacher of the Year is Carli Bannister, an English teacher at R. L. Turner High School. Please watch the following video to learn more about why Bannister was selected.

“When asked why teachers choose education as a profession most usually say they want to make a difference in children’s lives and serve the whole child,” said Dr. John Chapman III, Superintendent of Schools. “That is why teaching is special – it is a career of service that helps future generations. Our teachers have demonstrated a passion for serving our students. Again, to each of our honorees, thank you for your servant’s heart and for teaching, caring, and supporting our CFBISD students.”

Since 1969, the Texas State Teacher of the Year Program has honored excellence in classroom education and provided a forum to showcase outstanding educators whose efforts and example have inspired their students, their colleagues, and the communities they serve. Campus nominees were selected as campus nominees based on specific criteria – Inspiration, Motivation, Preparation, and Connection. Then, the campus winners were interviewed by a community/district panel of judges and asked questions about their teaching philosophy and student perception. The panel of judges chose the overall district winners.

Dr. Chapman and district leadership presented the winners with commemorative trophies, flower bouquets, and swag bags full of gifts from CFBISD community partners to celebrate the occasion. Randolph Brooks Federal Credit Union (RBFCU), the title sponsor for the event, presented each winner with a $1,000 check.

All Campus Teachers of the Year and Employees of the Year received a personalized plaque and special gift bag provided by RBFCU. Please view the Banquet Program for a list of campus and employee winners.

Special thanks to the Creekview High School Legends Show Choir for performing before the dinner, to their director, Kelly Pfaffenberger, for playing the piano throughout the banquet, CFBISD Student Ambassador and Newman Smith HS junior Anu Akomolafe who spoke at the event, Board Trustee Carolyn Benavides who gave the invocation, the CFBISD Educational Foundation for providing door prizes, and the CFBISD Communication Services Department for hosting the event. Additional thanks to our CFBISD Student Ambassadors for their help with the banquet. And finally, thank you to our many supporters and contributors that helped make this event possible.
