Carrollton Elementary families receive free car seats and safety training

Families at Carrollton Elementary School received new car seats and crucial safety training thanks to Safe Kids Greater Dallas.

The need was identified by school resource officer Fernando Guzman, who initiated the effort after observing potentially unsafe transportation practices during student drop-off and pick-up.

“When I started observing drop-off and pick-up, I noticed there were some opportunities to better secure our students in their vehicles,” Guzman said. “I decided to contact our Safety and Security Department, who connected us with Safe Kids. It’s a great feeling to know that our children are being safely transported to and from school.”

After school, parents who signed up for the event lined up in the parking lot to receive their new seats. Carrollton Elementary staff assisted with paperwork while Safe Kids technicians provided hands-on demonstrations and installed the seats. Each seat was registered, and parents were provided with model numbers and expiration dates.

Principal Monica Koen emphasized the school’s commitment to safety beyond the classroom.

"We're dedicated to educating not just our students but our parents as well," Koen said. "Safety is our top priority, and this partnership ensures our students are protected both during their time with us and during their commutes."
