   Supporting Great Teachers

  1. Increasing the Teacher Retention Allotment (TRA) to provide additional ongoing funding that helps CFBISD recruit and retain highly qualified teachers, including targeted support for Special Education and Bilingual/ESL educators, while streamlining certification pathways without lowering rigorous certification standards.

Ensuring Schools Have The Funding They Need

To make sure CFBISD has the resources to meet state requirements and provide the best education for students, we support:

  2. Increasing the Additional Basic Costs (ABC) Allotment to better cover the rising costs of operating schools, including transportation, hiring retired teachers, employee benefits, Teacher Retirement System (TRS) contributions, utilities and property insurance.
  3. Increasing the School Safety and Security Allotment so it fully covers the cost of meeting the state's armed security officer requirement, including salaries, benefits, training and other state-required safety expenses.

  4. Funding schools based on student enrollment instead of daily attendance so CFBISD receives funding for every student we serve, even when students miss school because of illness, medical appointments or other unavoidable reasons.

  5. Keeping more local tax dollars in the communities where they are collected. This allows CFBISD to invest more money directly in our own students, teachers and campuses.

When the state fully funds public education, CFBISD can invest more where it matters most—in classrooms, teachers and students.
