Eligibility:
- Have a government (national or foreign) issued photo ID;
- State Driver License (Acceptable Identification to obtain a driver license)
- Department of Public Safety Identification Card
- Military ID
- Passport
- U.S. Passport Card
- Matrícula Consular
They do not include:
- School IDs
- Social Security Card
- Credit/Debit Cards
- Be 18 years of age*
- Be a resident of the state;
- Not be enrolled in an accredited high school; and
- Not be a high school graduate.
* 17 year olds are allowed to test with a signed Parental Consent Form and a withdrawal form from the last school attended.”
Applicants testing for the first time
All persons taking the GED for the first time must complete an online demographic form and attend orientation
Online Demographic Form
NOTE: If you do not complete the demographic form and select a test center within 30 days, it is deleted.
All persons taking the GED for the first time are required to complete an online demographic form prior to registering to take the GED test. The GED Demographic Form is a method for GED test-takers to create their own online record in The University of Texas at Austin (UT) GED database.
Click on the University of Texas link below to start your own online demographic record as a GED test taker. This is a three (3) step process.
- Create a UT EID and password.
- Log back in using the UT EID and password and complete the demographic form.
- Select the test center where you want to test. The C-FB ISD GED Test Center # is 0368.
Orientation
Tuesdays* at 8:30
- Required of all persons testing for the first time.
- Session takes 1 to 1 ½ hours.
- Registration is immediately after orientation.
- No appointments taken

Registration/Orientation Procedure
Registration/orientation is handled on a “First come, first served” basis. A sign in sheet is placed outside the test center door at 7:30 a.m. The first 20 people who sign up for each test are those taken for registration/orientation. We only have 20 spaces per test available during each test session.

Fees
All fees must be paid at registration with a money order made out to:

- GED Test Battery (5 tests):
- $95 Money Order
- Retesting
- $30 money order per test
- Re-scheduling
- $30 money order per test
Spanish Testing
The GED Test is periodically administered in Spanish. Please check the calendar for the scheduled Spanish test dates.
Retesting:
- There is a 6 month waiting period prior to re-testing unless the person has been attending GED preparation classes and brings a signed letter from the authorized teacher stating that the person is prepared to test.
- No one may test more than 3 times in one calendar year.
Re-scheduling:
- There a $30 fee for re-scheduling.
- Re-registration is required to re-schedule a test.
Test Results
The Texas Education Agency will mail the results to the examinee in approximately 3-4 weeks. Call the testing center if you do not receive your test results during this time period. You may not obtain your scores on-line, but you may check the following website to see if a certificate has been issued in your name: https://bass.tea.state.tx.us/Tea.GEDi.Web/Forms/CertificateSearch.aspx.
