Enrollment
Enrollment
Procedures
Students
are eligible to attend school in the district
in which they or their parents reside. A student
who is at least five years of age and under
21 years of age on the first day of September
of any school year and who lives within the
district's boundaries may enroll. Children who are
four years old on or before September 1 may
enroll in the pre-kindergarten program provided
they meet eligibility requirements. The
District
requires proof of residency.
Appropriate identification
documents must be provided at the time of enrollment,
including immunization records and a document
such as a birth certificate that shows the
student's identity, legal name and age. A copy
of the student's records from the school the
student most recently attended, if the student
was previously enrolled in another Texas school
or in another state, is required.
Before a student can
be officially admitted to the District, appropriate
registration forms must be completed and signed
by the student's parent, court-appointed managing
conservator or legal guardian. Students who
are emancipated, married, or at least 18 years
of age and living alone may complete the forms
themselves.
It is a criminal
offense to falsify information on forms required
for student registration. A person who knowingly
falsifies information on a form required
for enrollment shall be liable to the district
and may be charged the maximum tuition fee. [Texas
Education Code 25.001(h), Penal Code 37.10]
The district will
not admit any student under the age of 18 who
is establishing a separate residency from his/her
parent/legal guardian if:
-
that
student's conduct has resulted
in removal to an alternative
education program or expulsion;
that
student is on probation for
delinquent conduct;
-
that
student has been convicted
of a criminal offense.

Code 25.001(d)(1)]
