Business Group Names its Honor Roll Schools; Six C-FB ISD Schools Make the List

The Texas Business and Education Coalition (TBEC) announced that 385 public schools across the state had earned recognition on the 2007 TBEC Honor Roll.  The TBEC Honor Roll is the most prestigious award for sustained, academic excellence in Texas.

“Schools get on our Honor Roll the old fashioned way,” said Jack Lowe, Chairman of TDIndustries in Dallas and TBEC’s Business Co-chair, “they earn it.  For us the bottom-line is results.  These schools help all students do well in all subjects.”

Six Carrollton-Farmers Branch Independent School District (C-FB ISD) schools made the Honor Roll. The schools named were Blalack Middle School, Kent Elementary, McCoy Elementary, McKamy Elementary, Rainwater Elementary, and Country Place Elementary.

"I am so very proud of the teachers, students, parents and staff who worked together as a team and received this honor," said Dr. Annette Griffin, superintendent of Carrollton-Farmers Branch Independent School District.

School are recognized for demonstrating three years of consistent, high performance in all subjects compared to other schools serving similar student populations. Honor Roll schools also have the highest percentage of students performing at the state's most rigorous standard - commended- in every subject.

Schools selected to the TBEC Honor Roll will be recognized October 22 at a reception at the Austin Hilton Hotel.
