| Newman Smith Marching Band Places Sixth In State Contest |
The Newman Smith Marching Band placed sixth in the UIL State Marching Band Contest for 4-A Bands held on Tues., Nov. 3 at the Alamodome in San Antonio. This was Newman Smith's first appearance in the final round of the UIL State Marching Band contest.
Twenty-six bands participated in the state 4-A band competition.
The Newman Smith Marching Band placed first in both the preliminary and finals competitions in the UIL AREA B Marching Contest. The area contest judges rated Newman Smith first in both music and marching.
The other rankings were: Dripping Springs High School, first; Friendswood High School, second, Mesquite's Poteet High School, third; Frisco's Wakeland High School, fourth; Plfugerville's Hendrickson High School, fifth; Mansfield's Legacy High School, seventh; Waxahachie High School, eighth, Forney High School, ninth; Hays' Buda High School, tenth. |
