Web Browsers
There are a number of Web browsers and multiple versions of browsers available for both Windows (from 3.1 to XP and beyond) and Mac (from OS 7.1 to OS X). The new version of our site uses some client-side JavaScript that works best the the newest versions of the most popular Web browsers, Netscape and Internet Explorer. Ultimately, the drop down menus behave best in Internet Explorer (6.0 or newer for Windows, 5.14 or newer for Mac).
What if I'm on AOL? Versions 6.0 and 7.0 of AOL software are backed by the Netscape browser, while older versions of the AOL software use older versions of the Internet Explorer software. If you are using the newest version of AOL software available for your operating system, you should be able to navigate without difficulty, but some menus may not expand fully... you will still be able to access every part of the Web site without this functionality. Even if you are using AOL software, you can still use the latest version of Netscape or Internet Explorer separately from your AOL browser while you are connected to AOL.
I'm a Mac user - I want to use Apple's Safari Browser! Apple has a for Macs (Intel and PPC) running Mac OS X. The browser is OS X native and does not run on older systems and is also available for Windows.
Click here to get the latest version of Safari.
I'd rather use Microsoft Internet Explorer - where do I get the latest version? Windows users (95/98/Me/NT/XP/Vista), click here. Note to Mac users: On June 16, 2003, Microsoft announced that it officially stopped development of future versions of Internet Explorer for the Mac OS. This is in response to Apple's new browser, Safari, which offers the same features and runs much faster. Safari is also available for Windows XP and Vista.
I'm a rebel - I'd rather use something like Opera or Mozilla's FireFox Our site does use client-side scripting for some functions (form validation, and drop-down DHTML menus), but this is more for aesthetics and for speed in finding what you need. Even if you're using the LYNX text-only browser, you should have no trouble navigating our site or finding what you're looking for. For the best aesthetic choice, however, the site looks its best when viewed in the latest version of Internet Explorer (for Windows and Mac). Alternatives such as the latest version of Mozilla and Opera can also access our site.
