Farmers Branch Elemenatry
Receives Books
Farmers Branch Elementary received 1,450 brand-new on-level books for each grade
from a school partner, Voyager Expanded Learning. Voyager employees raised money
to purchase new books for FBE students to take home at least one per student.
They exceeded their goal and hope to develop a student-run bookstore
with the excess books. The students had a fantastic time choosing from the tables
of books and were excited that they were able to take home their book for free!
Not only does Voyager donate books to FBE, but they also give their time. Last
year they had 14 volunteers act as mentors and tutors with students,
and
even more for the school’s fall carnival. They also help in other ways,
with school supplies drives, coat drives, and holiday assistance.
Montgomery Elementary Making Plans for 50th
Anniversary Celebration
The Montgomery Elementary staff is seeking memories and memorabilia
for the school's Fiftieth Anniversary Celebration. Former
students, faculty, staff and families are invited to write about
their experiences at Montgomery Elementary and submit them through
email to montgomery50@cfbisd.edu. These
memories will be used during the 2005-06 school year as the students
and staff celebrate the school's fiftieth birthday.
Montgomery's librarian Gail Schwamb is coordinating the Montgomery's
Memories and Memorabilia project and is also seeking such
mementos as scrapbooks, class and school photos, t-shirts, and
newspaper clippings. Individuals having items to share are
asked to drop them by the school, 2807 Amber, Farmers Branch until
May 26 for Ms. Schwamb. Please include your contact information
including name, address, and phone number on the items so that
they can be returned.
The Fiftieth Anniversary Celebration will be held Tuesday,
October 25.
