Isabella Piña-Hinojosa has a Doctorate of Education from the University of North Texas, Department of Teacher Education and Administration in Curriculum and Instruction. She also holds a Master’s of Education and Professional Certification in Administration from Texas Woman’s University and her undergraduate degree in Elementary Education with a Minor in Bilingual-ESL from North Texas State University. Isabella joined the C-FB team in 1984 as one of the district’s first bilingual classroom teachers in the intermediate grades, launched the district’s first ESL self-contained Newcomer classroom at Good and Kent Elementary.

Isabella is a professional member of the Association for Supervision & Curriculum Development, Council of Educators for Students with Disabilities, Phi Kappa Phi, Phi Lambda Theta, Texas Council of Women School Executives, Bilingual-ESL Ed. Association of the Metroplex, Texas Association for Bil-ESL Education, National Assoc for Bil-ESL Ed., Teachers of English for Students of Other Languages and Texas Teachers of English for Students of Other Languages.

Isabella is on the Advisory Board for Richland College and works closely with Texas Education Agency on educational issues related with English Language Learners. She is a founding member of a national advocacy group for English language learners. http://www.elladvocates.org

Olivia Pérez, M.Ed.

Olivia Pérez earned a bachelor’s degree in secondary education with a major in Spanish and minor in English from Angelo State University and a master’s degree as Reading Specialist from Angelo State University. Prior to moving to the area she taught ESL, English, and Spanish in Miles, Texas in both middle and high school. She was the Migrant Liaison in charge of the Building Bridges program for the district as well as LPAC Coordinator and ESL Lead. Ms. Perez joined the Carrollton-Farmers Branch team in 2007 as a secondary ESL/ELA Instructional Specialist. Some of her professional organizations include the Association for Supervision and Curriculum Development (ASCD), the National Council of Teachers of English (NCTE), the Texas Council of Teachers of English Language Arts (TCTELA), the International Reading Association (IRA), Bilingual Education Association of the Metroplex (BEAM) and the Coalition of Reading and English Supervisors of Texas (CREST).
