PROFESSIONAL PATHWAYS CARROLLTON-FARMERS BRANCH ISD
The target population is students in grades Pre-kindergarten through twelve (ages 4-21). The number of participants served is all students enrolled in our schools, approximately 25,000 for the 1998-99 school year. The Professional Pathways Program provides students with rigorous instruction, regardless of their grade level or intellectual ability. The instructional program is structured, much like society is at large. A key component of the concept is to set high, but realistic expectations. The Professional Pathway Program connects school-based and work-based learning, makes education more relevant to youth, and encourages students to remain in school and graduate. In the 1997-98 school year, the school district initiated an innovative Career Placement Center. The purpose of this Center is to help student’s transition from school-to-careers. The Career Placement Center (CPC) works closely with our business community to identify business needs for a trained work force. In addition, the CPC assists students in obtaining employment and provides all students in the District with guidance services. |
