Superintendent's Report

Griffin

Dr. Annette Griffin

Superintendent of Schools

May 2006

en Español

I am asked quite often what makes our district such a quality learning place.  My first and most emphatic answer is the people who have chosen C-FB ISD as their work home.  Everyone who works here is a valuable team member and supports the district mission “student achievement at the highest level.”

Without quality people who truly care about the education and welfare of all children, C-FB ISD would not be known as a leader in state and national educational circles.

In 1984, the National PTA established the first full week of May as Teacher Appreciation Week, and this year’s week is May 7-13.  To all individuals throughout our nation who have chosen public education as their profession thank you for doing the world’s most important work.  I am even more thankful for the special people who have chosen to work with C-FB ISD students.

At the heart of any effective public school system are classroom teachers.  I truly believe that the teaching is the most valuable profession that an individual can chose.  In fact, without educators, it would be impossible to have scientists, lawyers, technology experts, doctors and all the other vital professions found in our world today.

A great teacher is someone who helps us help ourselves by challenging us to be more than we thought we could be.  I know that happens each and every day in our schools because I’ve witnessed those learning miracles.  And, not a day goes by that I do not learn about a teacher who is making a difference.

Fortunately for the C-FB ISD community, other team members join with teachers in supporting our students.  Regardless of their roles or assignments, our staff truly believes that we make the world a better place for all, when we help all children grow and learn.  From the bottom of my heart, each employee has my undying gratitude because we share a common bond – “we are passionate about the value of each child and public education.”

I encourage you take time to thank C-FB ISD team members who have made differences in your life or in your child. If you don’t know the building where this special person works, please feel free to send a note to my office.  I will be pleased to forward your message. You may also send a note through our district’s email address cfbinfo@cfbisd.edu.

Or, you may want to consider the STAR Awards program established by the C-FB ISD Educational Foundation based on a suggestion of teacher Lani Mango. Her idea was to have a project that encouraged parents and others to honor staff members by contributing to the Foundation. With that idea, the STAR Awards program was born in 2001.

Persons interested in the STAR Awards can find more information by visiting our district’s website, www.cfbisd.edu and look for the “quick links.”  There you will find the STAR awards pin.  Click on that link, and you will be directed to the awards page.

Marvels of learning happen every day in the Carrollton-Farmers Branch Independent School District.  These wonderments happen because our educational team members model this Albert Einstein quote, “Your job is a self-portrait.  Autograph it with excellence.”  The C-FB ISD team members sign each and every assignment with excellence and quality.
