May 8:Health Expo 2008, Community Learning Complex, 1820 Pearl Street, Carrollton, 5:00 p.m. – 9:00 p.m. The Health Expo provides free services including immunizations, spinal cord exams, glucose testing, eye exams, osteoporosis, prostate screenings, high blood pressure checks, dental screenings, cholesterol checks, bone density screenings, and activities for children.

May 10: Newman Smith High School will participate in the Batten Disease Fun Run. Although Batten Disease has been identified for 180 years it is only in the last 10 years that progress has been made and a treatment trial begun. Josey Lane, Carrollton, 6:30 p.m. The meeting will provide information for parents and girls trying out for Troyann Drill Team. Ninth through twelfth graders for 08-09 school year who wish to be a part of the Troyanns should attend.

May 15-16: Vivian Field MS Choir & Theater Departments proudly present Alice in Wonderland, Jr!, Produced with special arrangement with MTI. The Spring Musical will be held at the Vivian Field Middle School Cafetorium, 13551 Dennis Road, Farmers Branch, 7:00 p.m.

Tickets: $4 for Students $6 for Adults. Tickets can be obtained through pre-sale on the campus, by reservation or at the door.

May 17: First Creekview All Pro Dad’s Day Breakfast, Chick-fil-A at Old Denton and George Bush, 8:00 a.m. – 9:00 a.m. All Pro Dad’s Day is a monthly gathering of fathers and their kids with the simple purpose of growing closer to each other while enjoying breakfast and participating in activities. Some great prizes will be given away. All Pro Dad, a national charity, features NFL players, coaches, and alumni, including Tony Dungy, who speak out on the importance of fatherhood. May 21: Moving Ground Dance Company Auditions, Creekview High School in the North Gym, 3201 Old Denton Rd., Carrollton, 3:00 p.m. – 6:00 p.m. Check-in begins at 2:45 p.m. Moving Ground Dance Company is looking for talented dancers who would like to represent the Creekview Department of Dance through performance and choreography. A completed application must be submitted by Tues., May 20 at 3:00 p.m. to Ronelle Eddings, Director of Dance, in order to secure a space in the audition. Incoming freshmen may audition for placement and/or the company, and are permitted to arrive as soon as their middle school classes are completed that day.
