2003 Bond Referendum Update


Completed Projects

Newman Smith High School—$23 million. This project was the second and final phase of a complete renovation of the school.   The major areas addressed in this phase were science classrooms, fine arts spaces and athletic facilities including a new gym and renovated theater. 

Janie Stark Elementary School—$11.5 million. This project was a complete replacement of a building originally constructed in 1963.  In addition to its need for improvement, the building was over-crowded with several temporary buildings required. 

 June R. Thompson Elementary School—$10.2 million. This project was a complete replacement of a building originally constructed in 1974.  The new school provides substantially more space for students. 

Pre-Kindergarten Center/Community Learning Complex —$6.5 million. The new Pre-Kindergarten Center occupies a portion of the remodeled First United Methodist Church of Carrollton building on Pearl Street in Carrollton. This center was the first step in expanding the District’s pre-kindergarten program to full-day status.  The CLC also houses C-FB ISD Student, Family and Community Services.

R. L. Turner High School - $26.5 million.  This project was the second and final phase of a complete renovation of the school.   Major areas addressed in this phase were new fine arts spaces and athletic facilities (including new band and orchestra halls), new ROTC facilities, renovated classrooms and a renovated theater. 

L. F. Blanton Elementary School - $12.5 million.  This project was a complete replacement of a building originally constructed in 1972.  The new school provides substantially more space for students. 

Kelly Pre-Kindergarten Center - $7 million.  This new complex is located at the intersection of Kelly Boulevard and Carmel Drive in Carrollton.  This new building provides the additional space needed to expand the district’s pre-kindergarten program to complete full-day status. The building also houses the Child Development Academy, child care services for C-FB ISD employees. 

Standridge Stadium Improvements - $1.5 million. These improvements included new artificial turf and a new scoreboard.  The turf was installed in the summer of 2005 and the scoreboard was completly operational in the fall of 2006.

Kathryn S. McWhorter Elementary School - $2.3 million. This project provided twelve additional classrooms for future enrollment growth.
